Day 5

177.2 lbs!

Wow! I have dropped three pounds already on the HCG diet! I am so impressed! I'm sure most of this is water weight so far, but it still feels very good to see the weight dropping off. I am very pleased with the results so far. My fiance and I got into an argument last night because he doesn't like the low caloric intake allowed with the restrictive part of this diet. I tried to explain to him that this was only the first phase and that, after 23 days, I will be able to eat 1500 calories a day, like normal. I explained that now I am simply learning to eat the right foods, and I'm also teaching my body to crave those foods by doing this. I told him that I get to eat a quarter pound of meat twice a day with vegetables. I then said, "What's the difference between what I'm eating now and if I were to go to McDonald's and order a quarter pounder? Just the bread, which is the unhealthy part aside from the high fat content of ground beef." He didn't have much of an argument to that except to ask how many calories I am consuming in a day. I told him, "Too few to sustain for any long period of time, but it's only for three weeks and two days, so it's not like I'm going to become anorexic." He said that I'd put on more weight than I will have lost once I quit the diet, and I explained that the diet is not designed to be stopped. It is designed in phases. There is the initial weight loss phase, which is followed by the maintenance phase, which includes eating healthy foods at appropriate calorie levels. He still does not agree with this diet, but I honestly don't care. I feel good, and I'm becoming healthier and learning to cook!

Learning to cook... That leads me to this morning...

So today I woke up and ate 1/2 a grapefruit with a cup of Oolong Tea. I then poached three chicken breasts, cut two of them up into small strips and seasoned them with lime juice. I packed them in a lunchbox with 1/2 of a red onion, already cut. I will eat one breast for lunch with spinach or a tomato and the other breast for supper with the onions. So far I have only drank 16.9 ounces of water, but I am about to drink another 16.9 ounces right now with my lunch. Yes, I am eating earlier today than normal because it's what my schedule permits.

So I took what Kris said into consideration, and I decided that, even though I am pleased with my results so far, I could cheat just a little bit without having terrible, awful consequences. I ate a small chocolate chip cookie and a brownie. I have drank a bottle of water after each to flush out my system, and with as much walking as I will do tonight, I will walk the calories off no problem. I figure an occasional splurge is ok, as long as it doesn't become daily or habitual.

Day 4

178.6

Ok, today I have not been as dilligent about drinking water. I have only drank 16.9 ounces so far along with one cup of green tea and two cups of coffee. For breakfast I ate 1/2 a grapefruit with my green tea, and for lunch I ate a few fresh shrimp with a handfull of spinach leaves. I also ate my afternoon snack just a moment ago, one cracker. Now I am going to attempt to force myself to drink my water. I think that will help with my hunger and my headache. On a lighter note, I stepped on the scale today, and I have gone down 1.4 pounds. On Monday I weighed 180.0 lbs; today I weighed 178.6. I am very excited to see the numbers going down so quickly. It gives me the motivation to keep going... OH, and yesterday for supper I ate four ounces of turkey breast, some white onion, part of a jalepeno and a half an ear of corn on the cob for supper. That was more veggies than I should have eaten, but my in-laws had paid for the corn, so I felt the need to eat at least some of it. :)

Day 3

180.0 lbs starting weight, as of Monday, 10/17/11

The first two days of the HCG diet are "loading days", so for my breakfasts I ate an Egg Mc.Muffin and hashbrown on the first day and two chorizo, egg and cheese tacos on the second day. For lunches I ate two double cheeseburgers from McDonald's on the first day, one McRib on the second day with a few fries, and one jalitos ranch burger from Dairy Queen for supper the second night. The first night my supper was two chicken enchiladas verdes, rice and beans. They say it is customary to gain weight during those two days (duh), but it is promised that any weight ganied will be lost by day four. Tomorrow is day four, and I am not weighing myself until then.

Today is day one of my restrictive diet and day three of the diet as a whole.

It's only lunch, but so far today I have consumed very few calories, yet I feel energized and upbeat. Here is my meal log so far:

0815 Breakfast: 12 drops of HCG under my tongue, 1/2 fresh grapefruit, 1 glass of Oolong Tea

1250 Lunch: 12 drops of HCG under my tongue, 3 egg whites + 1 whole egg, 1 raw, small vine ripe tomato

So far I have consumed 33.8 ounces of Ozarka Spring Water.

I still need to eat my cracker snack, eat supper and drink 56.2 more ounces of spring water.

I have now consumed 50.7 ounces of water, and I have eaten my afternoon snack, one cracker. Surprisingly, I did not greatly desire to eat another cracker. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to, but not because I was actually hungry.

Tonight is going to be interesting because it's family BBQ night at Rudy's. I keep trying to think about what I can eat. The diet allows for red meat a couple of times a week, but it doesn't recommend it. I guess that's probably what I'll eat unless I get a half chicken and just eat the breast.

I still need to drink 39.3 more ounces of water to hit my recommended amount, so that's two more bottles of water, plus a little, which I will get at supper.
